Note: I have no business relationship with any of these companies. These are just suppliers that I’ve had good experiences with.

StewMac is probably the biggest guitar making supplier in the US. I’ve used them for more than 30 years. I’ve found that their quality is very good, their shipping is prompt and they stand behind their products. Their selection is huge - if they don’t have it, you don’t need it. They also design many of their own products, especially tools. The only thing people gripe about is their prices. They offer some quantity discounts and free shipping through StewMax, which is kind of like Amazon Prime. They are also now offering sales pretty regularly. If you are careful, the prices aren’t bad.

Details coming soon - but don’t let that stop you from checking them out!

These guys are my favorite supplier for spruce and other top woods. They specialize in salvaged and recovered woods, so you can feel good about where your materials are coming from. Since they aren’t just cutting trees down, their selection depends a little on what they’ve been able to locate. I need a reason to buy from anyone else.

Philadelphia Luthier Tools has some of the specialty tools and supplies that guitar makers need and the prices are pretty good. As supply chain problems have increased everyone’s costs, I’ve started looking to them first when sourcing parts or tools. Their selection is not as big as StewMac and LMI, but is worth checking out. I order supplies for the Guitar Lab from them regularly and have never had a problem.

Guitar Fetish is the place to go when you want to make guitars, especially electric guitars, and you’re on a budget. Their selection is vast and their prices are hard to beat. They have some generic imported parts, some from an internal brand and some from Wilkinson. I’ve ordered a bunch of stuff from them for my classes. The quality has been good and shipping was prompt.
